Why might you feel anxious about life after lockdown?

by Marie Vakakis | Oct 23, 2021 | Mental Health

Hi, I’m Cass,

I’m a Mental Health Social Worker and Clinical Counsellor.
Working primarily with adolescents and young adults, I support individuals who may be experiencing a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, trauma or grief.

I am committed to providing a safe space where individuals feel free to talk openly about any challenges they may be facing. I work collaboratively with clients to empower them to make positive changes in their lives and to help improve their mental and physical health.
I love spending time outdoors and in nature, surfing, skating and doing Pilates. I’m a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and I have a great sense of humour (even if I’m the only one laughing!)

My approach to therapy is down to earth, engaging and relaxed. I work from a range of practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness training.

I adapt my style and techniques to suit individual needs.

“I am passionate about working with people to help create a happier and more fulfilled life. I believe that everyone has the potential create positive change despite adversity; we just need the tools to be able do so.”

Hi, I’m Amal,

I am a counsellor. I have been working with adolescents for over ten years within school settings, in the capacity of counsellor for the last 4 years.

I consider the role of counsellor to be a privilege. Playfulness and humour are my strengths, and I bring them with me into the counselling space.

At times you may laugh with me, and more often than not, you will laugh at me…but it’s all part of the fun. In my downtime, I enjoy a hike in the middle of nowhere, my martial arts class, drawing if I am not doing some woodwork or learning about the latest tech gadgets.
The quality of our working relationship has a significant impact on the counselling process. We will work collaboratively to help increase your self-awareness of your relationship with yourself and others and explore any obstacles preventing you from living your best life by helping you develop the skills to achieve it.
Although various counselling modalities exist, I will use a combination of approaches, including person-centred (client-led), solution-focused, and CBT.

“We don’t know what we don’t know. That’s where counselling can help shed light on what we can change. As Andy Andrews said, ‘Every good thing that has happened in your life happened because something changed.'”

Hi, I’m Hillary,

I work with adolescents and young adults (ages 14 to 30) who are experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, and social and emotional difficulties. I’ve had the privilege of working as a therapist in a variety of public and private settings, and I love what I do.
I know that coming to therapy is a big step, and it’s important that you find a therapist who is the right fit for you. I take the time to get to know you and help you feel as comfortable as possible; therapy should be a safe space where you feel heard. We work as a team, and together we’ll figure out what you want to get out of therapy and how we can work towards those goals.

My approach is warm and authentic, as well as direct (in a caring and curious way) when needed. My goal is to help you strengthen your relationships and develop/build on coping skills that you can use in your everyday life. I recognise and acknowledge that we may have different experiences and identities in terms of our race, cultural background, religion, gender identity etc. Working with people individually to help improve their lives is important, and I do so while also acknowledging systemic and societal influences. I work from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and intersectional feminist framework, and am LGBTIAQ+ affirmative and informed. I also work from a strengths based approach, which means we identify and build on your strengths, as well as working on things you find difficult/want to change. I incorporate a range of modalities in therapy, and will work with you to figure out which approach will be the most helpful.

I am a queer, disabled woman and my pronouns are she/her. I have changed my surname to Morgendorffer from Campbell, so you may have heard of me by that name. I love to laugh (including at myself) and have a pretty daggy sense of humour, which I like to bring into the therapy room. When I’m not at work I’m a classic homebody; other than going out for walks, I love reading, sewing, and playing video games (I have a 5 star island on Animal Crossing). I spend a lot of time with my greyhound Janey, who has an impressive collection of colourful coats and is a major source of joy in my life.

Personal quote/statement: I’m here to listen to you without judgement, help you understand yourself better, and support you to live a rich, meaningful life.

Hi, I’m Michelle,

I’m a Social worker/Counsellor skilled in supporting teenagers and young adults to better understand their emotions while developing positive coping skills to navigate through life’s hurdles. I am also a qualified Careers Counsellor and can help with making future plans, kick-starting/changing careers and problem-solving study concerns.

Growing up in India, the UAE, and Australia, I became passionate about raising awareness and reducing the stigma around seeking support for mental health issues, especially within culturally and linguistically diverse communities. With extensive trauma-informed training across a range of community, education, and mental health settings, my approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and engaging. I offer a culturally safe and supportive space and use interventions such as psychoeducation, CBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation strategies to help build a young person’s ‘coping skills toolkit’.

A little about me – I love travelling! During COVID, I have been rediscovering my interest in ice skating and rollerblading. I also enjoy sci-fi and supernatural shows, Mexican food and boba.

Hi, I’m Kathryn

I am a mental health social worker and family therapist. I work with individuals and families to support your personal and relational wellbeing.

Together we can explore issues such as childhood trauma, parental separation, anxiety, loss and grief as well as the many other challenges you, your child or family may be facing. As a systemic therapist, I work closely with parents and carers to improve family relationships and communication between family members. I also specialise in therapy with children and young people experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties.
I’m a pretty active person, I like to run, go to the gym and do yoga. I love going to the beach, taking walks with my dog and having adventures with my three children. When I relax I enjoy reading books and building LEGO with my kids; I am also learning to garden and get excited by my tomatoes and flowers when they grow!

My warm and relaxed style incorporates a range of evidence-based approaches into my practice, including CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy and EMDR. I use my experience providing trauma and attachment-based therapies to support healing and growth for individuals and for family relationships. to help you and your family connect and find joy together.

I offer a kind, enthusiastic and non-judgemental space for growth, healing, and capacity building. I am passionate about supporting you to make connections that make a difference, both within your own thoughts and emotions, as well as in relationships that are important to you

I love learning and have invested in education and training that has shaped me both as an individual and as a therapist. I have a strong interest in understanding the brain-body connection, and my training in Developmental Trauma, EMDR and Schema Therapy can support you to explore the ways the past may impact you in the here and now. I am also strongly focused on improving relationships, with training in Systems and Family Therapies that inform how I understand and respond to the hopes and challenges you bring with you to therapy.

Hi, I’m Marie,

The Owner of The Therapy Hub.

Welcome. I help teenagers and young adults who want to be happy, confident and live a meaningful life. Sometimes we’re weighed down by anxiety, stress, depression or trauma. Issues with school, work, relationships, identity, and/or self-esteem can make life difficult to enjoy. This can often leave us feeling stuck.

Life can be tough. I totally understand, and I’m here to help. Together we’ll figure out who you are, who you want to be, and how to get you there. I incorporate a range of techniques such as ACT, CBT, EMDR and mindfulness in my work to support you in this process.

What else can I tell you about myself? I’m a little bit of a nerd and don’t take myself too seriously – life’s too short! I’m your classic animal lover, especially dogs. I really love the great outdoors – hiking and camping (expect I hate mosquitoes!)

My approach to therapy is direct, yet genuine and supportive. I have a sense of humour about myself, and I encourage my clients to adopt the same attitude. I am incredibly enthusiastic and I am excited to work together and create meaningful and lasting change in your life.

Everything we talk about is just between the people in the room (unless there are safety concerns, I’ll explain all that to you in our first session). Think of me as your trusted confidant. Someone who is ready to listen, never judge – but to also be honest with you in order to bring forward positive change

‘’I’m 100% invested in this process. I am passionate about helping people feel understood and heard. Overcome past painful experiences and helping couples and families increase connection with one another.’’
