Supporting Veterans with DVA-Funded Therapy

At The Therapy Hub, we acknowledge the sacrifices veterans have made and understand the challenges that can arise when transitioning to civilian life. We offer psychological services funded by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), ensuring veterans and their families have access to specialised mental health support at no cost.

Referrals Through Bupa Open Arms

We are proud to receive referrals from Bupa Open Arms, which works to connect veterans and their families with evidence-based mental health services across Australia. Open Arms provides free and confidential counselling to:

  • Current serving ADF personnel
  • Ex-serving members
  • Partners of current and ex-serving ADF personnel
  • Family members of current and ex-serving ADF personnel
  • Children of current and ex-serving ADF personnel
  • Parents and siblings of a Service person who has passed away

If you or a loved one needs support, you can access our services through a referral from Open Arms or the DVA.

Am I Eligible for DVA-Funded Therapy?

Veterans may qualify for DVA-funded mental health support, meaning no out-of-pocket expenses. Our team handles billing directly with DVA, so you can focus on your well-being. To check eligibility, visit the DVA website or Open Arms.

Common Concerns Veterans Face

Veterans seek therapy for a range of reasons, including:

  • Adjustment difficulties – Finding a sense of purpose in civilian life
  • Work-related stress – Dealing with pressures beyond combat
  • Relationship challenges – Navigating the impact of service on personal connections
  • Identity struggles – Coping with the shift from military to civilian identity
  • Substance use – Addressing reliance on alcohol or drugs as coping mechanisms
  • PTSD – Veterans are five times more likely than civilians to experience PTSD

Family Support Matters

Military life affects the entire family. We offer family counselling to help spouses, children, and loved ones navigate the unique challenges associated with military service and transition.

How Therapy Can Help

Our qualified therapists use evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques to provide tailored support. Whether in person at our clinic in Footscray or via telehealth, we’re here to help veterans across Australia.
